Senior-Principal Rock Mechanics Engineer - Vancouver

We are seeking a Principal Geotechnical/Rock Mechanics Engineer, to be based in our Vancouver, British Columbia office.

The successful candidate will consult on projects for North American and international clients, requiring travel. Assignments will include providing expertise and applying rock mechanics principles to surface and underground mine design issues. He/she will work on the full project scope from conceptual studies to the detailed design and construction stage, liaising with other technical specialists as required. The position will include preparing proposals, participating in marketing efforts and developing and leading teams

The following qualifications are required:

  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in Geology or Mining/Geotechnical Engineering.Post graduate studies in rock mechanics is highly recommended;
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience; open pit/underground operating mine experience is considered beneficial;
  • Proficiency in 2D-3D numerical modeling skills;
  • Effective communication and leadership qualities while working in a team environment;
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships; and
  • Professional Registration.

As a consultant, the successful candidate will be expected to create and maintain client relationships and work in a team environment. Strong communication skills and interpersonal capabilities are essential.
