Calvin has over 17 years’ experience in the mining industry and has been involved with geotechnical and geo‐environmental projects related to mine operations, mine waste management and mine closure, including pit wall and waste dump designs, tailings retention structures and mine closure issues. During this time he has provided direct operational assistance, design input to mine planning issues and regulatory support for a variety of projects including: waste rock dump, dry stack tailings and closure designs for gold mines in Turkey; geotechnical design and operational support for pit walls and spoils in both dragline and truck shovel coal mines in Alberta, BC and Washington; design reports for both in‐pit and external tailings structures in the oil sands; and through leading a multidisciplinary team of engineers provided engineering design and regulatory support for closure of several open pits at mine operations in Washington state. Calvin's diverse experience in geotechnical and mining projects enables him to integrate between the disciplines very effectively.
