Description:
Come join us for a two-day symposium with notable personalities in geomechanical aspects of mine design. Dr. Rimas Pakalnis is an author of many publications on empirical methods of mine design currently used today. Dr. Carlos Carranza is an expert in geomechanics numerical modeling and author of many numerical routines used in practice; Dr. Vladimir Ugorets has more than 40 years of experience in hydrogeology, who will demonstrate the value of coupling hydrogeological and geotechnical information in numerical modeling. Finally, Dr. Vaughan Griffiths, author of different books and numerous specialized publications on geotechnical risk, will present the most recent concepts of geotechnical risk management. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit the exhibition showcasing the latest technology from several international companies dedicated to instrumentation, laboratory testing, rock fall control and software. Exhibitors will share their experiences their products to attendees.

The objective of this symposium is to provide scientific and technological knowledge required for daily mine operations in a practical way.

The symposium is organized by the Center for Innovation and Mining Development, A.C., in collaboration with educational institutions from the United States and international rock mechanics associations.
