SRK Consulting is delighted to welcome Patty McGrath to our Alaska practice as a Principal Consultant (Environment).

With nearly three decades of mining experience, Patty adds a wealth of knowledge to the SRK team. Twenty-two years of working with environmental regulation have given her a comprehensive understanding of US federal and state regulations as well as practical experience in implementing multiple regulatory processes. These complementary competencies enable her to adopt a strategic, integrated approach towards mine environmental review and permitting.

Patty is an expert in the regulations of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); Clean Water Act (CWA); and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). She has conducted environmental impact assessments, issued and reviewed CWA permits, and reviewed environmental compliance for numerous mining-related projects ranging from mine development to operations and remediation.

As past co-chair for the EPA’s National Mining Team, Patty worked on the development of national policy and regulations pertinent to mine permitting for operations and closure. For spearheading changes to mitigate the environmental impacts of mining, she was awarded the EPA National Gold Medal for Exceptional Service in 2010.

Patty provides senior-level advice to the mining industry, federal and state agencies, tribal governments, and the public. She has made many presentations to these bodies on mining-related technical and regulatory environmental topics.

“Patty offers a valuable combination of common sense and in-depth knowledge of US federal environmental programs,” said SRK (U.S.) President Terry Braun. “Many of our staff know and respect Patty from her role with the EPA National Mining Team. We are extremely pleased to have her join our firm and to be able to combine her skill set with our broader, established mining practices in North America.”
