SRK U.S. Graduate Scholarship Program | 2020-2021 Academic Year

DENVER - January, 2020 - SRK Consulting (U.S.), Inc. is pleased to offer a scholarship program for the 2020/2021 school year. The program is intended to help students complete master’s and doctoral degrees in mining-related fields, including:

  • Mining engineering,
  • Geotechnical engineering,
  • Exploration and mining geology,
  • Hydrogeology and water engineering,
  • Tailings and mine waste management, and
  • Environmental science and engineering.
Value: Up to $3,000 per semester, for up to 2 semesters.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must:
  • Be permitted to study in the United States,
  • Have an appropriate undergraduate qualification, and
  • Provide proof of enrollment in a scientific/engineering MSc or PhD at a United States university or college.
Selection criteria: Applicants will be assessed according to the following:
  • Academic achievement, as evidenced by their academic record,
  • A written recommendation by a university reference,
  • A written statement of no more than 500 words indicating:
    • The benefit they will obtain from the scholarship
    • A genuine desire to work in the mining and resources industry
    • Any other information the applicant considers relevant to their application
Selection process: Potential recipients will be identified by the SRK (US) scholarship committee and through partnerships with local universities. The scholarship committee may interview short-listed applicants.

The successful applicant(s) will be notified by the end of August, 2020. The selection decision is at the complete discretion of the scholarship panel, and while the panel may provide reasons for an unsuccessful application, it is under no obligation to do so.

Terms and conditions:

The successful applicant(s) will be asked to sign a contract containing the terms of the scholarship. Previous scholarship recipients and SRK employee family members are not eligible for the program.
Application procedure: The application must be submitted by the advertised closing date of June 30, 2020 and consist of:
  • A brief resume, including details of present and previous work experience where applicable,
  • Current transcripts and proof of enrollment in a US university or college for the upcoming school year, 2020/2021
  • A written recommendation by a university reference with contact details, and
  • A written statement of no more than 500 words (as defined above)

Payments: The scholarship will normally be paid directly to the applicable university, but may be paid directly to the student in special circumstances. The recipient must provide evidence of enrollment in the appropriate academic year.
Concurrent scholarships: The recipient should make SRK aware of any funding received in addition to the SRK scholarship.
